Kitchen & Culinary Manager - Job Description

Simple Eatery is hiring an Assistant Kitchen Manager / Sous Chef position. Full-time hourly, performance bonus & opportunity for growth. Answers to Owner & General Manager. Ideal candidate will be creative in food preparation & dining trends. Be proficient in all aspects of food preparation, presentation, food costs & food handling. Be a strong leader, role model, trainer & positive force in the kitchen. We are the highest rated restaurant in the area on Trip Advisor, Yelp, Google. Repeatedly voted best burger, best restaurant, best weeknight spot, best lunch spot & best bakery.

Responsibilities:

  • Create daily seasonal & specialty items, along with potential new menu items
  • Execute restaurant’s menu as established, to highest standards
  • Strong experience in stocks, soups, sauces & proteins
  • Recruit, train, develop & manage kitchen staff
  • Ensure all shifts are properly staffed for service
  • Compliance with safety, nutrition & sanitation regulations
  • Food ordering & storage
  • Create a culture of a positive & professional work environment with coworkers
  • Create cleaning & maintenance schedules for kitchen
  • General maintenance & repair of equipment in kitchen, when applicable

Requirements:

  • Work varied schedules, 34-42 hours per week (weekends & some holidays)
  • Excellent record of leadership
  • Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently
  • Capable of delegating multiple tasks
  • Strong communication, team building and leadership skills
  • Keep up with cooking trends and best practices
  • Serve-safe certification (or willing to get)
  • Culinary training
  • Requires current location or relocation to Buena Vista, CO

Benefits: Hourly wage plus portion of tips (tips avg $5-$7/hr more)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 34 – 42 per week
