The position of Branch Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operational and functional duties of the Signature Banking Representatives and Reception areas of the branch to which they have been assigned. This position requires leadership abilities that focus on providing exceptional customer service in achieving the objectives of the bank. This position requires the ability to problem solve, make quick effective decisions concerning the needs of the customers and staff. Manage assigned staff in a positive manner while coaching individuals in their responsibilities. Be responsible and accountable for the continual training of staff on products, policies and procedures. Maintain an acceptable level of work quality from all areas within the branch. Uphold the mission and values established by Pueblo Bank and Trust.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Models and cultivates strategies to encourage a high-performance work culture based on personal development and best practice principles

  • Encourages staff development and continuous process improvement

  • Establish and maintain open communication with staff to ensure awareness of all changes to policies and procedures

  • Develop and direct branch personnel with ongoing training and coaching on procedures, regulations and conduct

  • Attend all required job specific training and company meetings

  • Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and banking regulations affecting deposit-related operations and ensures policies, procedures and reporting are in compliance

  • Manages customer relationships including the introduction of products and services along with the accurate recording and processing of transactions and their related services

  • Work collaboratively with the Vice President of Retail Services ensure the branch supports the sales effort and customer service delivery standard referred to as the Signature Banking Program

  • Ability to build strong internal and external working relationships. Projects an ethical and favorable image of the organization to promote its goals and objectives

  • Maintain operating procedures to promote efficiency and limit liability to the bank

    • Assign duties and work schedules of branch retail staff to ensure appropriate coverage to support branch operations

    • Coordinate phone queue coverage and scheduling

    • Ensure an adequate supply of coin/currency for the efficient operations of the branch

    • Track and report retail operations and productivity for the branch

    • Establish and maintain a productive relationship with work related vendors

    • Ensure that the appearance of the branch and personnel are neat, organized, and in accordance with bank policy

    • Other Duties/Responsibilities

    • Support CRA efforts of the Bank within the community

    • Perform random audits on teller drawers and the vault. Maintain a written, signed report of each audit. Report any exceptions to the supervisor as soon as identified

    • Perform the duties of a Signature Banker as needed

    Supervisory Duties

    • Supervise the branch retail staff and perform corrective action as needed

    • Complete annual performance evaluations on direct reports with delivery to employee prior to their anniversary date

    • Provide the Human Resources Department with accurate and timely timekeeping information

    • Interview prospective employees to determine the best applicant based on skills, knowledge and abilities required to perform the job

    • Knowledge

      • Basic accounting knowledge

      • Principles of banking

      • Bank regulations

      • Check negotiability

      • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software: MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

      • Teller and deposit account procedures

      • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with customers, co-workers and vendors

      • Must be able to perform mathematical computations using a calculator to determine solutions such as interest earned, total fees, adjusted account balances, etc.

        Education

        • Successful completion of High School Diploma or G.E.D. Certificate

        • Post-secondary education desirable in the areas of business, management or finance

        Experience

        • One year of teller experience with accurate cash handling required

        • One year of relationship banker experience or customer service

        • Previous experience with automated teller systems and bank specific technology preferred

        • Two years supervisory experience in a related field, banking experience preferred

        • Retail sales experience preferred

        • Teller machine, scanner, currency counter and coin sorter
