Job Description:

The marketing department is an upbeat, energetic environment that provides opportunities to earn while still getting to play in the mountains. The Brand Manager position is responsible for the daily operation of Monarch Mountain’s marketing department. 

The Brand Manager is responsible for ensuring Monarch’s marketing efforts are effective, timely, creative and efficient, and must represent Monarch’s brand and voice well in all work. This position requires the understanding of website management, social media management, market trends, and marketing and communications best practices. Excellent communication, attention to detail, customer service, teamwork, and ability to work both in an office setting and on the mountain is a must. This position requires the ability to have a flexible schedule, including weekends & holidays.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Be an effective leader within the guidelines of department and company policies, procedures and values, in fulfillment of Monarch’s mission statement to “provide our guests with a quality, personalized mountain experience.”
  • Research, propose, plan, manage and execute all marketing, public relations and advertising programs for Monarch Mountain. Track and report effectiveness of all marketing and advertising programs, adjusting strategies as appropriate.
  • Responsible for Monarch's accurate profile and timely snow reporting, both internally and externally, to include contracts and coordination with snow reporting agencies and outlets. 
  • Coordinate Monarch sponsored marketing events; work in conjunction with Brand Experience Manager and other departments to promote and execute on-mountain events.
  • Oversee and equip other departments with tools to execute the Monarch brand across the mountain, to include logo and color standards, photographs, formatting and more. 
  • Responsible for development and ongoing, accurate and timely maintenance of SkiMonarch.com, incorporating content input and ideas from relevant departments/personnel.
  • Manage the maintenance and growth of social media channels, including but not limited to: Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, and Vimeo, to extend the reach of Monarch’s brand identity and update current followers on news and events. 
  • Oversee the organization, maintenance, and strategic growth of Monarch’s photo and video asset library, including management of shared platforms such as Dropbox. Ensure assets are current, well-organized, rights-cleared, and available to support marketing, PR, and brand initiatives.
  • Maintain professional competency by staying current with all trends in the ski industry.
  • Attend seminars and trade-shows as a Monarch representative; maintain membership in industry organizations; develop and maintain professional and industry contacts.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of Monarch's target market and their core values.
  • Act as the media liaison for Monarch Mountain.
  • Assist the Brand Experience Director in maintaining outstanding relations between Monarch and the community.
  • Responsible for ensuring all forms, tracking, verifications and necessary documenting are executed and accurately completed in a timely manner, including but not limited to payroll, budget requests, disciplinary actions and training.
  • Assist with ongoing training of brand experience team members at the direction of the Brand Experience Director.
  • Operate within budgetary constraints for the current season; contribute to future departmental budget proposals
  • Identify, research and submit departmental capital requests for fiscal review.
  • Work in conjunction with other departments as part of the Monarch team.
  • Develop, support, review and maintain on a regular basis training materials, manuals, job descriptions and any other documents necessary for the overall success of the Brand Experience Division.
  • Be prepared and oversee department personnel in the event of an emergency.
  • Identify and train personnel for opportunities within the department for the purpose of retaining valuable and interested team members, and the filling of key positions in the event of a departure.
  • Provide professional solutions and courteous assistance in problem solving for both guests and team members.
  • Monitor and maintain the inventory and condition of department supplies, properties and facilities.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum Age: 21
  • Legal citizen of the United States or possess other proper work permit authentication.
  • High School Diploma or GED required, college degree in related field preferred.
  • A valid Driver’s License, and a good, company insurable driving record is required.
  • Available to work on weekends and holidays as needed and be available for phone calls when off-site.
  • Minimum three years’ managerial experience preferred.
  • Ski or Ride at an advanced level.
  • Ability to push, lift, and move up to 30 lbs.
  • Must have the strength, flexibility, endurance and aerobic conditioning to meet the demands posed by lifting, bending, kneeling, stretching, climbing stairs, shoveling snow, lowering and carrying equipment.
  • Requires working at high elevation (up to 12,000’), with extended exposure to adverse weather conditions, such as severe cold, heavy snowfall, rain, strong winds and intense sun.
