Job Description
The Business Incubator Manager is:
- A leader in the business community;
- A business information advocate; and
- An innovative forward thinker who inspires learning, discovery and the development of 21st century skills for the business community.
The Business Incubator Manager has the experience in the functions and resources of small businesses and entrepreneurs, who can successfully provide presentations, networking, and information to the business community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Business Outreach and Programming):
- Manages the EDA grant contract and reporting requirements including gathering adequate data to report to EDA on program implementation and progress.
- Track budget, manage expenses, and acquire supplies.
- Manages the Business Incubator and the Delta Library Innovation Center including the Creative Technologist.
- Establishes rules and policies to support successful programming and user engagement in all.
- Manage Website.
- Manage donations and facilitate receipt of donations in-kind or cash.
- Manage memberships - orientations, payments, office leases, keys etc.
- Manage and troubleshoot membership & reservation software issues.
- Monitor, report, and respond to member/staff disputes and incidents.
- Respond to general inquiries (phone, email, walk-in etc.) and provide tours of the space to prospective members, interested groups/boards, or potential volunteers
- Implements programs, trainings, and events targeting small businesses and entrepreneurs in coordination and collaboration with regional partners.
- Seeks and maintains strategic partnerships with business leaders and community organizations that promote start up and new businesses such as the Small Business Development Center and Chambers of Commerce.
- Serves as a liaison to the business community and to organizations and governmental entities that support local businesses, offering instruction in the use of relevant resources.
- Coordinates programs and outreach events to enhance the Delta Library and Innovation Center’s relationship with and services to the business community.
- Is knowledgeable of economic gardening practices and principles and provides economic gardening services directly to existing and new businesses.
- Coordinates bootcamps and business incubator programming.
- Provides group and one-on-one instruction and consultation to entrepreneurs and businesses.
- Maintains a working knowledge of business resources, awareness of new resources and technologies, and the ability to use and teach these resources effectively.
- Promotes the Delta Library Innovation Center’s and Delta Library’s business resources through newsletters, press releases, web and social media content, and presence at public events.
- Respond to incoming requests for business support (phone calls, emails, research requests, walk-ins etc.)
- Create reports and other documentation to provide the resources & services that the businesses request.
- May serve as a member of governmental and non-governmental groups that support local economic development.
- Works cohesively in a team environment with the Creative Technologist and partner organizations to promote makerspace and business incubator programming geared towards small businesses and startups.
- In coordination with the Creative Technologist, Delta Library staff, and City staff, recruits and trains local volunteers for the makerspace and business incubator.
- Works independently with limited supervision.

- Certification or experience with Economic Gardening principles, or ability to learn
- Strong communication skills with the ability to express ideas clearly through various methods, including written, oral, web, video, and social media.
- Knowledge of publicly accessible business data and research resources, or ability to learn
- Self-motivated and curious
- Detail oriented
- Business experience desired
- Networking and strong communication skills
- Bilingual desired but not required
- Valid Colorado driver’s license and clear motor vehicle record.
- Reliable transportation (may be required to use during work hours).
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics and/or Communications is required. Master’s degree in library science from an ALA accredited university or equivalent is preferred.
- Two (2) years business experience or related experience serving the business community is required.
- Proven leadership and management experience
- Experience with budget preparation and management
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Proficient in English. Other languages helpful.
