Position Overview
Emergent Campus is seeking a Business Recruitment contractor to support business recruitment, business analysis, organizational operations, educational and workforce partnerships, and executive leadership.
A primary focus of this position will be business recruitment for the advanced manufacturing sector, including identifying and engaging businesses that may be strong candidates for expansion, relocation, partnership, or investment within Southern Colorado. The position will also provide essential business analysis, thought leadership, operational coordination, educational partner coordination, and support functions to Emergent Campus. The contractor will work closely with the Executive Director to help ensure the efficient and effective operation of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Advanced Manufacturing Business Recruitment
Identify and research advanced manufacturing companies and related businesses that may be candidates for relocation, expansion, investment, or partnership within Southern Colorado.
Develop and maintain a pipeline of prospective businesses and recruitment opportunities.
Conduct outreach and develop relationships with businesses, industry representatives, executives, site selectors, and other relevant decision-makers.
Help communicate the region's business assets, workforce resources, educational partnerships, infrastructure, and other competitive advantages to prospective businesses.
Coordinate introductions between prospective businesses and relevant economic development, education, workforce, government, and community partners.
Assist prospective businesses in identifying and navigating relevant regional resources and partnership opportunities.
Represent Emergent Campus at relevant meetings, events, tours, presentations, and business recruitment activities.
Maintain accurate documentation of prospects, outreach, follow-up, and business recruitment activities.
Business Analysis
Assist in identifying opportunities for
process improvement and strategic development.
Maintain detailed business process models and documentation in AirTable.
Analyze data and trends to inform decision-making and identify areas for optimization.
Support the development and implementation of new initiatives and projects.
Conduct research and analysis supporting advanced manufacturing recruitment and broader business development efforts.
Provide thought leadership and recommendations related to business development, organizational operations, and strategic opportunities.
Operations Coordination
Coordinate and manage operational activities, including meetings, events, and projects related to business development, educational partnerships, and workforce pathway development.
Assist in preparing for meetings, presentations, tours, and other organizational activities.
Track project progress and identify potential risks, issues, or areas requiring follow-up.
Provide support with tasks throughout the Emergent Campus facility as needed.
Interact positively and professionally with tenants, businesses, educational partners, community stakeholders, and visitors.
Prepare reports, documentation, and other materials as needed.
Serve as an Emergent Campus presence when needed and support the organization's day-to-day operations.
Coordinate with educational partners and other stakeholders to advance business development and education-to-workforce pathways.
Executive & Administrative Support
Provide direct administrative support to the Executive Director.
Assist the Executive Director with business development, organizational, and strategic initiatives.
Prepare presentations, reports, correspondence, and other materials as needed.
Support scheduling, meeting pr
eparation, follow-up, documentation, and coordination related to organizational priorities.
Help track action items, projects, and deliverables on behalf of executive leadership.
Assist with stakeholder communications and coordination as requested.
Provide additional administrative and operational support necessary to ensure the efficient and effective operation of Emergent Campus.
Qualifications
Experience in business analysis or operations management.
Experience or demonstrated ability in business development, business recruitment, relationship management, economic development, advanced manufacturing, or a related area preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to communicate professionally and build positive relationships with businesses, partners, stakeholders, and organizational leadership.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to balance business recruitment, project coordination, administrative support, and operational responsibilities.
Familiarity with Southern Colorado's business, workforce, education, or economic development ecosystem is preferred.

Compensation & Contract Structure
This is an independent consulting position averaging approximately 20 hours per week. The consulting rate reflects the contracted nature of the position, and no employee benefits are provided. The initial contract provides $23,512.50 for the initial contract period, with the opportunity for annual renewal through January 31, 2029, subject to grant funding, organizational needs, satisfactory performance, and contract renewal.
Funding for the position is supported through Emergent Campus's workforce and economic development grant portfolio, including leveraged Department of Labor grant funds.

This position provides an opportunity to play a hands-on role in both the growth of Emergent Campus and the economic development of Southern Colorado. The contractor will work across business recruitment, advanced manufacturing, education and workforce partnerships, organizational operations, and executive support.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable moving between strategic and hands-on work — from researching and recruiting prospective advanced manufacturing businesses to preparing executive presentations, coordinating partner meetings, tracking projects, interacting with stakeholders, and supporting activities at Emergent Campus.
