Salary: $17.34 - $18.38 per hour based on experience and education, as per the Instructional Support Salary Schedule.

Purpose of the Job: The Campus Security Officer ensures a safe, secure, and orderly environment at Cañon City High School. This role involves monitoring school premises, supervising students, and enforcing district policies to support student safety and compliance with established rules.
Minimum Requirements:
Education: Associate's Degree or equivalent to two years of undergraduate coursework (preferred)
Certification: N/A
Experience: Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Licenses/Certificates: Possess and maintain a First Aid and CPR certification; Nonviolent crisis intervention training (preferred or willing to complete); valid Colorado driver’s license; FEMA IS-100 Certification: Introduction to Incident Command Systems for Schools (must be completed within 60 days of hire)

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use their hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, talk, or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, reach with their hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and feel or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds from the floor to waist, waist to overhead, waist to floor, and overhead to floor. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to work in a school setting. Travel from site to site may occasionally expose the employee to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is generally quiet, with occasional increases when working events or with equipment. Inside and outside environments involve standing and walking throughout the day, with outside supervisory duties in inclement weather. The employee must be able to work in person.
Mental Functions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to analyze and compute. Frequently required to compare, communicate, coordinate, instruct, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, and compile. Occasionally required to copy, synthesize, and negotiate.
