As Director, Commercial Legal, you will play a pivotal role in enabling growth, driving operational excellence, and supporting the design and launch of new products and services across the Pax8 marketplace.
In this role, you will:
🧭 Build for scale
Create and implement a scalable, programmatic, and flexible approach to how the legal team partners with business stakeholders around the world.
🤝 Collaborate deeply
Partner closely with cross‑functional teams to provide practical, business‑focused legal guidance that empowers teams to move quickly and confidently.

Translate big‑picture vision into clear, actionable roadmaps. Track progress and ensure execution aligns with strategic business goals.
🔧 Standardize and streamline
Develop and refine global contracting frameworks, standardized approval templates, and consistent policies and processes that reduce friction and improve clarity.

Remove blockers, simplify complexity, and help teams achieve meaningful outcomes while managing legal risk thoughtfully.
📄 Lead with commercial & technology expertise
Draft, review, negotiate, and simplify a wide range of commercial and technology agreements. Communicate legal concepts clearly and accessibly.
🔍 Model learning agility
Monitor evolving legal trends and risks affecting cloud commerce. Learn, unlearn, adapt — and generously share insights to elevate the entire organization.
🧠 What You Bring
You are an experienced, solutions‑oriented commercial lawyer who thrives in innovative, fast‑moving environments and builds strong partnerships across the business.
We are looking for someone who has:
📅 Ten or more years of experience
Deep expertise in commercial agreements, with strong emphasis on technology‑focused transactions.
⚖️ Hybrid experience
Time spent both at a law firm and in‑house at a technology company.
✍️ Excellent negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills
With an ability to simplify complexity and influence with clarity.
🧩 Leadership and problem‑solving abilities
You approach challenges proactively and with a business‑oriented mindset.
🔐 Knowledge across key legal domains
Including intellectual property, cybersecurity, and data privacy.
🤝 Exceptional communication and relationship‑building
You are a trusted advisor to leadership and collaborate confidently across teams.
🧠 Strategic judgment and adaptability
Balancing business needs with legal risk while managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
💻 Technical proficiency
Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and contract lifecycle management systems. Salesforce experience is a plus.

Required Education & Certifications
🎓 Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent professional experience
⚖️ Juris Doctor from a top‑tier law school
📜 Active membership in good standing with a State Bar
Compensation
Qualified candidates can expect a salary range of:
💰 $180,000 to $200,000 or more, depending on experience.
