Start Date: July 27th for the 2026-2027 School Year (there is a desire for some spring training if available)

Position Type: 195 days

Location: District Wide


Salary: Pay for this position is determined by the Year Round Manager Salary Schedule for 195 days and is based on education and experience. Starting salary range is $47,745-$70,855.

Purpose of the Job:  The District Safety and Security Coordinator performs tasks in developing, implementing, and managing programs designed to address overall district  safety and security needs effectively. They will oversee the maintenance of a safe and secure environment for students, employees, and visitors by developing, establishing and enforcing safety and security policies, access control procedures, accident prevention efforts, threat and risk assessment efforts, fire and emergency management/response and appropriate staff safety training. 


Minimum Requirements: 

Education: Associates Degree required, Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred

Experience: 3 or more years of successful public education safety experience preferred, with a minimum of 2 years in an administrative capacity 

Licenses/Certificates: Valid Colorado Driver’s License

Other Criteria:  Successful experience as a school or district level administrator preferred

  • Must complete a fingerprint-based criminal background check and be cleared
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a school atmosphere with staff members, students and the public.
  • Ability to effectively read, write, speak and listen to comply with directions and instructions to complete tasks and establish priorities.
  • Integrity, trust and work ethic to be able to work with little supervision.

Essential Duties of the Job:  (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation.)

  • Coordinates comprehensive district safety and security programs, policies, and procedures by studying organization operations and schedules; establishing internal controls; conducting inspections as appropriate; addressing potential hazards; creating and updating CCSD safety and security resources  and emergency operations plan.
  • Collaborates with business services to provide training, investigations, and cost containment procedures for Worker’s Compensation.
  • Coordinates school safety compliance with federal, state, and local regulations by studying existing and new requirements and overseeing and enforcing school-wide adherence to requirements.
  • Coordinates safety planning and practice to support academic processes of each school 
  • Conducts and coordinates safety, security, and emergency preparedness training by developing, scheduling, and/or facilitating training for staff, students, and public safety officials relating to school safety, security, and emergency preparedness.
  • District point of contact for safety related student behavior concerns. 
  • Maintain updated threat and risk assessment platforms, conduct annual training on the process. Support execution of assessments and ensure follow through of documentation. 
  • Conducts routine observations in buildings for adherence to basic safety protocols, conducting drills etc.
  • Secures facilities, equipment, students, and personnel by working with the appropriate departments to recommend safety and security equipment purchases and  upgrades; maintains records of fire and other emergency drills; supervises and maintains access control  system and key distribution.
  • Works with appropriate departments to meet operational security needs within budget; works with various other departments for capital improvements as needed; schedules expenditures. 
  • Assists in the development and implementation of security plans for special events. 
  • Coordinates with site-based administrators and Operations Department to address and correct safety/security issues on school campus.
  • Serves as district liaison to law enforcement with monthly meetings and oversees the School Resource Officer (SRO) program. 
  • Participates in annual trainings to stay current on school safety laws, policies, and procedures. 
  • Assist administration in arranging security for parent organizational and school board meetings. 
  • Supervises the District Safety Programs to include oversight of the Safety Committees.
  • Provide oversight, documentation, and coordination of health safety inspections at all schools fire inspections and elevator inspections.
  • Ensure management of district radio inventory, repair, purchases, updates and repeater.
  • Responsible for grant writing and grant implementation for safety related initiatives.
  • Executes district emergency communications for drills and real events.
  • Develops vision, goals and objectives for the department then recommends and implements such programs as approved by the Operations Director and Superintendent.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness regarding research, recent developments, legislation, and educational programs pertaining to and safety and security.
  • Develops summaries, reports and other documentation as required or requested.
  • Ensures articulation and implementation of District, state and federal guidelines.
  • Maintains professional, effective relationships with staff, students, families, and community partners.
  • Manages and appropriately assigns resources.
  • Assists with CCSD Title IX Coordination and training with HR and Special Service Director
  • Follows administrative policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Understands and reports on how district data is stored, processed and transmitted by the district and by third-party Agents of the district.
  • Implements appropriate physical and technical safeguards to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of district data.
  • Provisions and deprovisions access to district data as authorized.
  • Maintains good security practices with passwords and accounts to the various district systems and applications;
  • Reports actual or suspected breaches in the confidentiality, integrity or availability of district data to appropriate district personnel;
  • Follows all board policies for acceptable use of district technology.
  • Schedules, facilitates, and documents Safety Committee meetings and partners with BSERT leadership to develop and implement proactive safety measures.
  • Other Duties as assigned by Director of Operations or Superintendent of Schools

The noise level in the work environment ranges is generally quiet with occasional increase when working events or with equipment. Must be able to work in person.

Mental Functions:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to analyze and compute.  Frequently required to compare, communicate, coordinate, instruct, evaluate, use interpersonal skills and compile.  Occasionally required to copy, synthesize and negotiate.
