The Gifted and Talented Lead Teacher will oversee the Gifted Education (GE) process and case management of Advanced Learning Plans (ALPs). The GE Lead will report directly to Director of Academic Affairs. The GE Lead in each building will ensure that the program is in compliance with state mandates, including an annual review with families of all ALPs. The GE Lead will collaborate with parents, counselors and building level teams in the identification of all GE students. The GE Lead Teacher will advance the programming options for GE students at all levels. The coordinator will be nurture relationships with the parents of GT students. This is a yearly stipend position.
- Serve as a resource to teaching staff to promote and implement academic and behavioral supports.
- Monitor the implementation of ALPs.
- Approve any request for cognitive testing.
- Assist the DAA in all state level reports in the area of GT, including the GT UIP Addendum.
- Assist in managing district GT resources, both electronic and physical
- Annual review all ALPs for effectiveness of legal correctness with parents and student.
- Be a liaison between the building and the district.
- Lead counselors and building level teams in the identification of GT students.
- Co-Lead a bi-annual parent stakeholder meeting with the DAA and other GE teacher leads.
