POSITION OVERVIEW: Fremont RE-2 School District is seeking a dedicated, collaborative, and student-centered Elementary Classroom Teacher to join Fremont Elementary School.
The Elementary Classroom Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, inclusive, engaging, and academically challenging learning environment that supports the growth and success of all students.
Fremont RE-2 elementary teachers demonstrate and continually develop strong pedagogical expertise, particularly in literacy and mathematics, while maintaining knowledge across all elementary content areas. Teachers plan and deliver standards-based instruction, use assessment and student data to guide instructional decisions, differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs, and provide students with meaningful feedback to support continued growth.
Teachers are expected to demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, collaboration, reflection, and leadership while developing strong relationships with students, families, colleagues, and the school community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Instruction and Curriculum
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, standards-based instruction aligned with District-adopted curriculum and Colorado Academic Standards.
- Provide effective instruction in literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, and other assigned elementary content areas.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of effective elementary instructional practices and age-appropriate pedagogy.
- Establish clear learning objectives and communicate expectations to students.
- Differentiate instruction, materials, assignments, and supports to address varying student readiness levels, learning needs, strengths, and interests.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies, technologies, resources, and learning experiences to promote student engagement and achievement.
- Provide appropriate opportunities for whole-group, small-group, and individualized instruction.
- Integrate critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, creativity, and appropriate technology into instruction.
- Provide timely, meaningful, and constructive feedback to students.
- Maintain appropriate lesson plans, instructional materials, and classroom resources.
- Participate in curriculum development, instructional planning, and alignment activities as assigned.
ASSESSMENT AND STUDENT GROWTH
- Use formative, interim, and summative assessments to monitor student learning and academic progress.
- Analyze assessment results and other student data to identify strengths, areas of need, and appropriate instructional responses.
- Adjust instruction based on student performance, progress-monitoring information, and identified needs.
- Maintain accurate student grades, records, progress information, and other required documentation.
- Administer District and state assessments in accordance with established procedures and testing requirements.
- Maintain the security and confidentiality of assessment materials and student information.
- Participate in collaborative data analysis and problem-solving processes with grade-level teams, interventionists, specialists, and administrators.
- Communicate student progress and areas of concern to students and parents/guardians in a timely and professional manner.
STUDENT SUPPORT AND DIFFERENTIATION
- Provide instruction and support that addresses the academic, developmental, social-emotional, behavioral, and individual needs of students.
- Identify students who may require additional academic, behavioral, or social-emotional support and communicate concerns through appropriate school processes.
- Participate in Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), intervention, problem-solving, and student-support processes as assigned.
- Collaborate with special education teachers, related-service providers, interventionists, English learner staff, counselors, paraprofessionals, and other professionals to support student needs.
- Implement accommodations, modifications, interventions, and supports identified through Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Section 504 Plans, English learner plans, intervention plans, or other applicable student plans.
- Participate appropriately in IEP, Section 504, MTSS, parent, and student-support meetings when required.
- Support inclusive educational practices and meaningful student participation in the general education environment.
- Maintain high expectations for all learners while providing appropriate levels of support.
CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT AND LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
- Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, inclusive, organized, and positive classroom environment.
- Develop clear classroom expectations, routines, procedures, and behavioral expectations.
- Use proactive, positive, and developmentally appropriate classroom-management practices.
- Promote responsibility, self-discipline, respect, problem-solving, perseverance, and positive relationships.
- Build a classroom culture in which students feel valued, supported, challenged, and connected.
- Respond appropriately to student behavior while maintaining student dignity and following District policies and procedures.
- Implement student Behavior Intervention Plans and other behavior supports as required.
- Provide active and appropriate supervision of students throughout the school day.
- Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, recess, arrival/dismissal, assemblies, field trips, and other assigned duties.
- Promptly address and report student safety concerns in accordance with District procedures.
STUDENT SAFETY AND PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with students at all times.
- Follow District requirements concerning staff/student interactions, electronic communications, social media, photographs, recordings, and student information.
- Comply with mandatory reporting requirements regarding suspected child abuse or neglect.
- Follow District procedures for reporting bullying, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, threats, safety concerns, or inappropriate conduct.
- Follow school and District emergency procedures and appropriately participate in drills and emergency response.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student academic, behavioral, health, disability, disciplinary, and family information.
- Follow FERPA, applicable student privacy requirements, Board policies, and District procedures.
- Exercise sound professional judgment and maintain ethical conduct in all interactions with students, families, colleagues, and community members.
FAMILY AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
- Establish and maintain positive, respectful, and professional relationships with students and families.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student learning, progress, classroom expectations, and concerns.
- Conduct parent-teacher conferences and participate in other family engagement opportunities.
- Respond to parent/guardian questions and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Work collaboratively with families to support student learning and well-being.
- Promote a positive image of Fremont Elementary School and Fremont RE-2 School District.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when communicating about students, staff, school operations, or District matters.
PROFESSIONAL COLLABORATION AND DEVELOPMENT
- Work collaboratively with grade-level teams, teachers, paraprofessionals, specialists, administrators, and other District employees.
- Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), collaborative planning, data meetings, staff meetings, and other school or District teams as assigned.
- Participate in required professional development, training, and school-improvement activities.
- Reflect on instructional practices and use feedback, student data, professional learning, and evaluation results to improve professional practice.
- Maintain knowledge of current educational practices, instructional strategies, curriculum, standards, assessment expectations, and technology relevant to the position.
- Contribute positively to school and District goals, initiatives, and improvement efforts.
- Provide appropriate direction and collaboration to paraprofessionals, volunteers, student teachers, or other support personnel assigned to the classroom.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance and fulfill professional responsibilities within established timelines.
- Perform other duties reasonably related to the position as assigned by the Building Principal or District administration.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must:
- Hold or be eligible to obtain a valid Colorado teaching license or authorization appropriate for the elementary teaching assignment.
- Hold the appropriate elementary education endorsement or otherwise meet Colorado Department of Education requirements for the assignment.
- Demonstrate knowledge of effective elementary instruction, particularly in literacy and mathematics.
- Demonstrate knowledge of standards-based curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
- Demonstrate the ability to differentiate instruction and support students with diverse academic and learning needs.
- Demonstrate effective classroom and student-management skills.
- Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, families, administrators, and support staff.
- Demonstrate professionalism, dependability, flexibility, and sound judgment.
- Demonstrate the ability to appropriately use student data and educational technology.
- Maintain required educator licensure, endorsements, professional learning, and other credentials throughout employment.
- Successfully complete all applicable pre-employment requirements, criminal background screenings, and fingerprinting requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference may be given to candidates who possess:
- Previous successful elementary classroom teaching experience.
- Strong preparation or demonstrated effectiveness in literacy and mathematics instruction.
- Experience using data to differentiate instruction and provide targeted student intervention.
- Experience supporting students with diverse learning, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
- Experience with MTSS, special education inclusion, Section 504 accommodations, or intervention processes.
- Experience with educational technology and student information/learning management systems.
- Knowledge of Infinite Campus or other applicable District systems.
- Demonstrated commitment to collaboration, professional growth, and continuous improvement.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION
Performance will be evaluated by the Building Principal or designated evaluator in accordance with Fremont RE-2 School District procedures, applicable Board policy, Colorado educator-effectiveness requirements, and the applicable negotiated agreement.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a certified teaching position subject to the applicable Fremont RE-2 Professional Negotiations/Master Agreement, Board policies, administrative regulations, Certified Teacher Salary Schedule, District procedures, and applicable federal and state law.
Teaching assignments, grade levels, classroom assignments, schedules, and responsibilities may be adjusted based upon student enrollment, instructional needs, licensure requirements, staffing, and District needs.
