Job: Marketing, Events & Proposal Specialist

3 Rocks Engineering & Surveying LLC

Marketing, Events & Proposal Specialist

3 Rocks Engineering & Surveying LLC

Job Description

Job Type: Part time, Hourly

Wage: $25-$32/hr.

Location: Canon City. Buena Vista, Colorado Springs Hybrid

Job Description:

3 Rocks Engineering & Surveying is seeking a creative, organized, and community-minded Marketing, Events & Proposal Specialist to help tell our story, strengthen team and client relationships, and drive new opportunities. This part-time role partners with our engineers and surveyors on high-value proposal responses, leads our digital and print marketing, oversees internal and community events, manages public relations, and supports our R&D team's grant-writing efforts.

It's ideal for someone who thrives on creative storytelling and organized execution, and who is drawn to 3 Rocks' values: work rooted in our Christian faith, genuine work-life balance, and a habit of putting our neighbors first.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Proposal Writing & Request For Proposal (RFP) Response: Partner with engineers and surveyors on our larger, more competitive RFP responses — gathering technical content, coordinating contributions across the team, and producing polished, submission-ready proposals.

  • Digital Marketing & Social Media: Maintain and grow 3 Rocks' presence across LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram with engaging visual and written content that highlights active projects, engineering innovation, team culture, and community involvement.

  • Print Marketing & Graphic Design: Design and order promotional materials, and build pitch decks and proposal graphics that keep our brand consistent across every touchpoint. Capture high-quality site photos of surveying and design projects for internal records and portfolio documentation.

  • Public Relations & Community Engagement: Draft press releases for company milestones and coordinate 3 Rocks' presence at trade shows, community events, and volunteer efforts.

  • Event Planning & Logistics: Plan and execute internal team gatherings and client appreciation efforts across our regional offices, managing vendors, venues, budgets, invitations, and setup/teardown from start to finish.

  • Grant Support (R&D & Community Projects): Team with our R&D Department on grant applications tied to technical R&D initiatives — the R&D team leads the strategy and technical content, and you help with research, writing, and tracking deadlines. This is a smaller, supporting piece of the role.

GOTTA HAVE IT

  • Alignment with Culture: Genuine alignment with 3 Rocks' mission and community-centric focus, and with our core values: integrity, selflessness, and ambition.

  • Marketing Experience: 2+ years of experience in marketing, communications, social media management, or content creation.

  • Proposal & Technical Writing: Ability to take technical input from engineers and surveyors and turn it into a clear, compelling, well-structured proposal for a competitive RFP.

  • Graphic & Visual Tools: Proficiency with design tools such as Canva, Illustrator, or similar platforms with a strong portfolio showcasing print materials, pitch decks, and brand consistency.

  • Organization & Detail Orientation: Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to track multiple proposal deadlines and marketing projects at once. Demonstrate a keen creative and professional eye for visual aesthetics, composition, and brand alignment.

BONUS POINTS

  • Grant Writing Familiarity: Experience researching or drafting grant proposals, particularly technical, engineering, or infrastructure grants (e.g., SBIR, Colorado state programs) — helpful for supporting our R&D team's grant efforts.

  • Event Planning Track Record: Experience coordinating community events, trade shows, or client appreciation efforts.

  • Photography/Videography: Skills to capture site projects, team outings, and community service initiatives.

  • Tech-Forward Mindset: Comfortable learning and adapting to new internal software and systems as our marketing, proposal, and project tools continue to evolve.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Pay: $25 – $32/hour, commensurate with experience.

  • True Work-Life Balance: A flexible, part-time schedule built around 20 hours/week.

  • A Great Team Culture: Work alongside people who genuinely care about each other and enjoy working together inside and outside the office.

  • Growth Potential: Depending on company growth, this role may expand into a full-time position in future years.

  • Perks: Access to the “company garage” of outdoor gear — including our company raft, climbing gear, and mountain bikes.

LOCATION

Cañon City, Colorado Springs, and Buena Vista offices. A hybrid schedule may be considered for the right candidate; this role is not eligible for fully remote work.
