Job Description:

Medical Assistant Specialty Clinic- Full-time day position, working Monday-Friday 

Full-time benefits are the following:

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Graduated from an accredited program for a medical assistant, certified nurse assistant, or emergency medical technician. 
  • Current certification: CMA, CNA, or EMT 
  • Current BLS/CRP certification from AHA 
  • At least one (1) year of experience in a clinic setting, preferably in a specialty practice. 
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Superb listening skills
  • Experience with electronic medical records
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, preferred 
  • Proficient knowledge of medical terminology, ICD and CPT codes.
  • Comfortable speaking on the phone and working in a fast-paced environment 
  • Very comfortable asking probing questions to patients
  • Multitasking and a proactive problem solver
  • A high level of professionalism

    This position performs direct and indirect patient care in collaboration with members of the specialty clinic team and assumes responsibility and accountability for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with the team to meet the patient's physical and emotional needs. Specialties include Physiatry, General Surgery, Urology, Pediatric Cardiology, Podiatry, and Ophthalmology.

    • Prepares daily exam rooms in the clinical area for patient care, including stocking all necessary supplies.
    • Triage patient calls for pharmacy requests, test results, medical questions, and concerns as directed by the physician; document outcomes in EHR.
    • Maintains patient documentation and communicates care plan with provider, including ordered diagnostics or therapeutic services.
    •  Ensures cleanliness, adequate stock of supplies, and functioning equipment in examination rooms. Replaces supplies depleted daily. Cleans and sterilizes equipment and tools. Completes shift opening and closing procedures.
    • Assists providers and other clinical staff with examinations, procedures, and other processes related to direct patient care.
    • Will perform blood draws as per the direction of the provider
    •   Administers all forms of medications per policy and provider direction and adheres to all safety protocols and procedures for medication administration.
    •  Participating in frequent interactions with patients regarding all levels of concerns and questions.
    • Executing duties with a willingness to help others who are in need.
    •  Schedules/Reschedules follow-up patient appointments.
    •  Responsible for performing routine medical procedures as ordered by treating clinicians, as well as triaging emergent patients as needed
    • Perform front office duties: greet patients, obtain authorization, check in/out, communicate wait times, answer multi-line telephone system, and distribute employer results/paperwork as needed.
    •  Assist the provider with in-clinic procedures (wound care, injections, and cystoscopy).
    •  Helping in the family health clinic as needed.
