Location: McKinley Elementary School
Position Type: Full-time, 162 days per school year
Start Date: As mutually agreed for the 2024-2025 School Year
Salary: $17.34 - $18.38 per hour (based on experience and education)
Additional Compensation: Prorated stipend ($950-$1,500) for center-based positions, dependent on start date

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; AA degree or equivalent coursework (approx. 48 credits) preferred
• Assessments: Proficiency on district-administered assessments may be required
• Experience: Prior experience in educational settings is preferred
• Skills: Effective reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills; reliable technology skills for job functions
• Physical Requirements: Must pass pre-employment physical; ability to lift up to 50 lbs; physical capacity to meet students' educational, physical, and emotional needs
• Other Requirements: Criminal background check; Mandt training (upon hire); substitute teaching license (if needed, funded by the district)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Collaboration and Professionalism:
• • Work cooperatively with staff, students, and the public in a school setting
  • Maintain a professional appearance and positive working relationships
• Student Support and Instruction:
• • Implement schedules, routines, and classroom activities under the direction of supervising teachers
  • Provide support in 1:1, small group, or full classroom settings as needed
  • Meet students' educational, physical, and emotional needs as specified in their Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
• Confidentiality and Security:
• • Follow protocols to protect student and district data confidentiality
  • Report any suspected data breaches to the appropriate personnel
• Safety and Supervision:
• • Monitor students during inside and outside activities, including in inclement weather
  • Potentially transport students using district vehicles

Additional Special Education Responsibilities

• Confidentiality:
• • Maintain strict confidentiality with all special education student information
• Instructional Assistance:
• • Execute instructional programs as directed by special education teachers
  • Provide 1:1 or small group reinforcement of lessons introduced by teachers
• Student Mobility and Health Support:
• • Assist with student mobility, including wheelchair maneuvers and secure transfers
  • Perform medical tasks such as tube feeding, catheterization, and toileting as needed
• Physical and Sensory Support:
• • Prepare and assist students with meals and related tasks to support IEP communication, sensory integration, and physical goals
