Job: Substitute Custodian or Cook

Follows the LCSD district calendar.  Food Service employees work only on student contact days. Custodians work year-round.

Supervised by department manager.  FLSA: Non-Exempt

Purpose:

To provide reliable, flexible support in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming school environment as a Substitute Custodian or to assist in preparing and serving nutritious meals as a Substitute Food Service Worker. This role ensures continuity of essential services in the absence of regular staff, contributing to the well-being and daily functioning of the school community.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; operate equipment  with hands and wrists, climb or balance on ladder/step stool; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The  employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally move more than 100 pounds. Specific  vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or  caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock due to working with electrical equipment. The  noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  

MENTAL FUNCTIONS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate.  Frequently required to coordinate. Occasionally required to compare and analyze.
