Overall purpose and objective of position
Provide a wide range of transactional duties to serve members by receiving or paying out funds with high accuracy. Maintain accurate transactional records. Provide a variety of member savings, share draft/checking, and credit account transactions, as well as member services such as sales of money orders.
Essential Responsibilities
- Build relationships and enhance member experience, respond to member requests in a friendly manner by greeting and welcoming members to the credit union in a courteous, professional and timely manner.
- Process member transactions, to include, but not limited to – deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, loan payments in a prompt, efficient, confidential and accurate manner.
- Balance cash drawer at the end of the shift and compare to system totals. Research and resolve discrepancies. Report discrepancies to the supervisor.
- Check night depository bags and ATM deposits and record proper information according to credit union procedures and assist with mail or email transactions.
- Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge of all related policies and procedures, rules, and regulations for the teller area, including robbery procedures.
- Maintain an up-to-date comprehensive knowledge of all credit union products and services that are handled or promoted by tellers.
- Promote, explain, and cross-sell other credit union products and services, such as consumer and mortgage loans, IRAs, certificates, safe deposit boxes, debit and credit cards, online banking, official checks and money orders.
- Ensure that the teller station is prepared for member interactions by properly stocking with forms, supplies, brochures, etc.
- Report malfunctions of any equipment used at the teller station to supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications, required or desired competencies, and required or desired licenses or certifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to perform simple math calculations to include counting cash and give change efficiently and effectively.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good reading, writing, grammar, and intermediate math skills.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office products or similar software programs including email, word processing and spreadsheet software.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods standing or sitting at desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift to 25 pounds at a time.
