Wage: $18-$19/hr.

Location: Salida, CO.

Job Description:

The Slope Maintenance Department is a fun and exciting way to join the on-mountain ski industry and the Monarch family. This department is an upbeat, active, and outdoor department that provides opportunities to earn and play in the mountains. The Terrain Park Staff works as a team to develop, test and maintain terrain park features and surrounding area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

The Terrain Park Staff responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Work in conjunction with other employees and departments as part of the Monarch team.
  • Set up and maintain all signage, ropes and bamboo in the terrain parks, ensuring they are appropriately placed, neat, visible and secure.
  • Work in conjunction with the Terrain Park Supervisor to develop, build and test all features and transitions in the terrain parks.
  • Maintain features and transitions daily, which includes raking, shoveling, shaping, requesting snowcat assistance and other methods of grooming.
  • Create a welcoming and safe park experience for all users, help with PARK smart education.  
  • Assist in picking up trash and maintaining a neat and orderly appearance of the area.
  • Load & unload trucks getting supplies & equipment where they need to go.
  • Advanced Skiing or riding abilities; able to carry equipment while skiing, riding, and on lifts.
  • Communicate and provide information to employees and guests regarding the terrain parks, in a courteous and knowledgeable manner.
  • Assist in Park and mountain-related events; not limited to; set up, tear down, maintenance, announcing, guest service.

  • Is flexible with hours and days of work. Can work any hours during the business day including mornings, evenings or split shifts, and any days of the week (including weekends and holidays)

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum age: 18
  • Legal citizen of the United States or possess other proper work permit authentication.
  • High School Diploma or GED required, college degree preferred.
  • Ability to push, lift, and move up to 90 lbs.
  • Ski/ride at an advanced level
  • Experience riding terrain parks, and a familiarity with various features
  • Requires working at high elevation (up to 12,000’), with extended exposure to adverse weather conditions, such as severe cold, heavy snowfall, rain, strong winds and intense sun.

JOB TYPE: Winter Seasonal

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

  • Compensation: Proposed hiring rate starts at $18 (actual pay will be adjusted based on experience).
