Salary: Pay for this position is determined by the 169-day Teacher Salary Schedule and based on education and experience. Salary Range $44,739-$75,161.

Purpose of the Job:
To lead students in developing technical and employability skills in woodworking and residential carpentry, preparing them for entry-level employment, advanced training, or post-secondary education. The teacher will support students’ intellectual, emotional, and physical growth, in alignment with the District’s mission. The program supports students in achieving industry certifications and developing real-world problem-solving skills through project-based learning.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk, or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and feel or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds from floor to waist, waist to overhead, waist to floor, and overhead to floor. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly work in both traditional classroom settings and vocational shop environments, which may include exposure to dust, wood particles, loud noise from machinery, and varying temperatures. The employee must be able to supervise and instruct students in a woodshop or construction lab setting, as well as at off-site construction projects or outdoor learning areas, which may expose them to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, or precipitation. The noise level is often moderate to high due to the use of power tools and construction equipment. Travel between school sites or community project locations may be required. The employee must be able to work in person and maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive learning environment in all instructional settings.
Mental Functions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to analyze, compute, and make quick, safety-related decisions in dynamic instructional settings. The employee must exercise strong judgment, especially when supervising students operating power tools or working in construction environments. Frequent responsibilities include evaluating student performance, adapting instruction to varied skill levels, and resolving unexpected challenges during hands-on projects. The employee must demonstrate flexibility, interpersonal awareness, and the ability to simultaneously prioritize safety and learning objectives. Functions also include comparing, communicating, coordinating, instructing, evaluating, and compiling. Occasional duties may involve negotiating, synthesizing information, and responding calmly and effectively in stressful or emergency situations.
