Job Description

Job Type: Part time, Hourly

Wage: $20.81-$31.81/hr.

Location: Leadville, CO.

Job Description:

The Youth Skateboarding Instructor is responsible for planning, organizing, and teaching the fundamentals of skateboarding. The ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of the techniques, a strong ability to communicate effectively, and a genuine passion for teaching and helping others improve.

General Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Provide high-quality instruction to learners of all skill levels, tailoring lessons to meet individual needs and goals.
  • Develop personalized lesson plans and training regimens to help students improve their skills, techniques, and overall performance.
  • Create a positive and engaging learning environment that fosters skill development, confidence, and a love for the sport.
  • Utilize effective teaching methods, drills, and feedback to enhance participants understanding and performance.

Requirements

  • Must be over 18 years of age
  • Have an excellent understanding of the rules, strategies, and techniques for the sport
  • Knowledgeable about physical fitness, safety, injury, and sports equipment
  • Certification from a local or national training program is preferred
  • Patience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED. If this certificate is not held training is available

Physical Activity & Work Environment

  • Must be able to conduct activities, standing, walking, running, and sitting
  • Conduct activities involving climbing, stooping, kneeling/bending, crawling, and reaching on a moderate basis
  • Ability to see close up and far away, with or without glasses or contacts
  • Work in a high-altitude environment
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment
  • Ability to work in harsh weather conditions, including low temperatures, rain, or snow

Notice of Emergency/Disaster Responsibilities

All Lake County Employees may be required to work as a Disaster Service Worker when a local declaration of emergency or disaster is declared by the Board of County Commissioners. To be prepared for this role, all employees and emergency service function (ESF) leads will attend emergency management trainings and exercises as requested by the Director of Emergency Management. With advanced notification from OEM, employees will make reasonable efforts to attend training events in coordination with other employees and supervisors.
